March 28, 2011 - Sussex County YMCA  "Adult Mini Meet"  SCY Swim Meet on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Sussex County YMCA in Hardyston, NJ.  Entry form must be received by Friday, April 1, 2011. March 28, 2011 - Congratulations to the following NJ LMSC swimmers who set new NJ LMSC SCY records at recent meets.  On March 12 at the New York State Championship meet held at the Nassau County Aquatic Center, Marie Vellucci (61), set the following new records: Women 60-64 200 Fly  3:40.09 200 IM  3:31.88 400 IM  7:22.20  At the 2nd Annual March Madness meet held on March 19 at Drew University, the following new SCY records were set: Women 55-59 Nancy Steadman-Martin (56), 50 Back - 33.79. Women 60-64 Marie Vellucci (61), 100 Fly - 1:45.02. Men 80-84 Paul Kiell (80), 1650 Free - 29:34.79. Congratulations to Andrea Luallen-Egg (45), who set a new NJ LMSC SCY record at the Winter Blitz meet at the Nassau County Aquatic Center on January 23.  Andrea swam a 2:51.77 for the 200 breast.
March 28, 2011 - Congratulations to Paul Kiell, 80, for setting a new meet record in the 2011 Tamalpais Aquatic Masters Postal 1650. Paul swam a 29:58.29.

March 8, 2011 - NJ Masters Swimming is proud to announce and to congratulate the following New Jersey Masters swimmers for their respective levels of commitment to United States Masters Swimming. All 2010 award recipients will be honored and presented awards at the 2011 Annual New Jersey Masters Swimming Awards Banquet and Social to be held in the evening of Saturday, May 14, 2011. The awards are each customized with the commensurate years of continuous NJ LMSC membership and can be viewed on the NJ Masters website.  Please note that it will not be possible to mail these awards. If you are unable to attend the awards banquet, then we hope to see you at another future NJ LMSC event so that you can pick up your award. Please click here for your Banquet invitation information and event registration. We are also honoured to announce that the guest speaker this year will be one of our own long-time NJ Masters Swimming members and illustrious open water swimmer, Nancy Steadman-Martin. Additionally, there will be a pre-banquet workout offered from approximately 3:30pm - 5:00pm for those interested.  The banquet will be held from 6:00pm - 10:00pm at the Lafayette Lodge #7 in Rahway, NJ. To conclude the evening, we will again be having door prizes!! If you have any NJ Masters swimming photos that you would like to share with your fellow Masters swimmers as part of the banquet slide show, please e-mail them to Bridgette Hobart  bhobart@ptcllc.com  by April 30th.  We would love to add your photos to the montage celebrating the NJ Masters swimming community throughout the years! Thanks! We hope that you all can join us for an evening of celebration of our New Jersey Masters swimming community! February 2011 News
February 15, 2011 - On Sunday, February 13th, the Ocean County YMCA hosted another successful OCY Unofficial Team Championship SCY meet. Congratulations to Ridgewood YMCA for winning the meet with 748 points!!! The other top (5) teams were: Ocean County YMCA came in second with 600 points, Wyckoff YMCA came in third with 367 points, Berkeley Aquatic Masters came in fourth with 316 points, and Garden State Masters came in fifth with 292 points. Approximately 180 athletes competed in the meet comprising 18 teams! Congratulations to all of the athletes on all of your great swims! Please click here for complete results.
February 15, 2011 - Wagner College (Staten Island) will be hosting their First Annual SCY Challenge Meet on Saturday, April 16, 2011. Entry forms must be submitted by Friday, April 8, 2011. Februay 11, 2011 - New Jersey is off to a strong start for 2011 in the Go The Distance event! Out of all 52 LMSCs, New Jersey holds the #7 spot with over 2,250 miles logged.  New Jersey remains in the #5 spot in total number of participants with 94! Let's go NJ!  Sign up, swim, and log those miles! The Colonies Zone is the #1 Zone with over 13,500 miles and 515 participants. This event is open to ALL registered USMS members.  To participate in 2011, simply submit your total yardage in your on-line FLOG (under MyUSMS). For more details about this fitness event, go to GO THE DISTANCE on the USMS website.

February 7, 2011 - New Jersey Masters Swimming T-shirts for sale The NJ LMSC board is pleased to continue to offer New Jersey Masters Swimming t-shirts to our members for purchase. The proceeds will be used towards offsetting some of the costs of continuing to provide the annual 100 x 100s NJ LMSC event free of charge to all registered NJ Masters swimmers. The t-shirts are short-sleeved black Hanes Beefy-T 100% cotton and have the New Jersey Masters Swimming small logo on the left chest area and the U.S. Masters Swimming large logo on the back of the shirt. The shirts are $20.00 each and are available in unisex sizes Small, Med, Large, X-Large, and XXL. The t-shirts will be available for purchase at most of our upcoming NJ LMSC events, so bring along your cash or checks made payable to the NJ LMSC. If you would like to have a t-shirt mailed to you, then there will be an additional $2.50 shipping charge. January 4, 2011 - 2011 NJ Masters Swimming Annual 100 x 100s The NJ LMSC is pleased to announce that the much anticipated NJ Masters Swimming sponsored Annual 100 x 100s event is scheduled for Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Rutgers University Sonny Werblin pool from 8am - noon. This year, we will have 12 lanes for the event to accommodate the growing number of participants. All 2011 USMS registered NJ Masters Swimmers are invited to attend, but the event will be limited to the first 75 eligible swimmers who pre-register by Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011. To pre-register, simply submit by email your full name and 2011 USMS number indicating attendance to Susan Kirk  sqkirk@gmail.com by Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011. Don't delay....this event will fill up quickly! You MUST be a 2011 USMS NJ LMSC registered swimmer to participate. Your pre-registration will be verified at check-in on the morning of the event. January 3, 2011 - Congratulations to the NJ LMSC for their strong participation in this event! Out of all LMSCs, New Jersey finished the year in the #5 spot with over 21,500 miles logged.  New Jersey is #5 in total number of participants with 104! The Colonies Zone is the #1 Zone with over 110,000 miles and 580 participants (the next closest was Dixie with 69,000 miles from 358 participants)! January 3, 2011 - ADULT SWIM TECHNIQUE CLINIC - Sussex County Y Winter Session This clinic is for adults (16 and over) who want to improve their swimming technique and is directed toward exercise swimmers, triathletes, adult competitive swimmers or any adult swimmer who wants to swim with more efficiency, grace and speed.  The clinic will be held on three successive Tuesday evenings January 11th, January 18th and January 25th from 6-7 PM in Meeting Room 2 and from 7-8 PM in the pool. There will be three classroom sessions and three pool sessions.  In the first classroom session, we will review a video of elite swimmers who exhibit correct swimming technique.  We will evaluate their technique in all four strokes emphasizing what they are doing correctly.  The first pool session will include underwater videotaping of all attendees followed by teaching of basic skill drills that are designed to correct stroke defects.  In the second and third classroom sessions, we will review the videotape of attendees swimming and identify stroke defects.  The second and third pool sessions will concentrate on teaching you how to correctly execute the specific skill drills that will improve your swimming technique by correcting your stroke defects.   The clinic will be limited to ten swimmers. January 3, 2011 - FREE--NJ LMSC Masters Swimming Sponsored Clinic/Workout will be on Sunday, February 20th, 2011 The 2nd in a series of (3) NJ LMSC Board of Volunteers sponsored clinic/workout sessions which will be offered to any 2011 registered NJ Masters Swimmer at no cost (yes...FREE!!), but limited to the first (30) swimmers who register for each session, is scheduled for Sunday evening, February 20th, 2011, from 6pm - 8pm at the Cranford Pool & Fitness Center (Centennial Avenue Pool)   in Cranford, NJ. The clinic session will be focusing on various swimming elements such as starts, turns, and swimming technique with the remaining time allocated towards a workout.
