March 31, 2014 - Congratulations to Lyndsay McMeen (33) for setting a new NJ LMSC SCY record in the women's 30-34 year age group with a 2:36.55 in the 200 yard breaststroke at the New England SCY Championships at Harvard University on March 23, 2014. 

March 17, 2014 - Congratulations to Kip Gibson, 58 who broke his own record in the Men's 55-59 age group 1650 yard freestyle with a 19:09.85 at the 2014 New England SCY Championships on March 15, 2014 at Harvard University. 

March 17, 2014 -Congratulations to the following NJ LMSC swimmers who have set new open water/long distance records since 2011.  These are all USMS National Championship events. 2011 Two-Mile Cable Swim at Lake Mirror in Lake Placid, NY on August 13, 2011: Women 55-59:  Carol Morman (58) - 1:12:46.11, Women 60-64:  Beth Maloney (60) - 1:04:16.46, Men 30-34:  Gergo Spolarics (31) - 54:06.24, Men 60-64:  Bill Reichle (63) - 55:17.30

February 25, 2014 - Congratulations to the following NJ LMSC swimmers who set new SCY records at the Ocean County YMCA Unofficial Masters Team Championships on February 23, 2014.  Women 18-24:  Lauren English (24) 50 back - :28.66, Women 75-79: Janet Wehrlen-Moeller (79) 200 fly - 6:01.20, Men 18-24: Richard Maier (23) 50 breast - 27.80, 100 breast - 1:00.31, Men 45-49: Oleg Chebotarev (45) 1000 free - 10:53.78, Men 50-54: Ron Borchers (54) 200 free - 1:59.67 

February 25, 2014 - Congratulations to Frank McElroy (65), who set a new SCY record in the men's 65-69 age group with a 2:57.25 in the 200 yard breaststroke at Metro LMSC's Valentine's Day meet at the CW Post Campus of Long Island University on February 9, 2014.

January 2014 News

January 27, 2014 - Congratulations to Jose Faria, 48 for setting a new NJ LMSC SCM record in the men's 45-49 100 meter backstroke with a 1:07.45.  Jose swam this at the Wilton Wahoos Fall SCM Masters Meet in Wilton, CT on January 12, 2014.

January 23, 2014 - The Colonies Zone SCY Championships will be held April 4-6, 2014 at George Mason University. Click here to access the meet information page.

January 2, 2014 - PLEASE NOTE: The date of the Ocean County YMCA Unofficial Team Championships has been changed from Sunday, February 16, 2014, to Sunday, February 23, 2014.  Please click here for an updated meet announcement.

January 2, 2014 - - New Jersey swimmers posted another great year in the USMS “Go The Distance” online fitness event.  NJ finished 2013 with the highest membership participation rate of all of the “high yardage” LMSCs with 128 swimmers (13.4% of the NJ membership) recording over 26,000 miles, averaging 205 miles per swimmer! NJ finished in 8th place of all 52 LMSCs and along with fellow LMSCs New England (4th) and Potomac Valley (7th), helped the Colonies Zone finish in the #1 spot among all 8 zones. This is a great way to keep a fitness log (you can log all of your fitness activities – not just swimming) and also serves as a tremendous motivator for you to stay consistent.  Please remember to re-register for 2014 and if you did not participate this year, consider signing up for 2014!  To participate, simply register and then submit your total yardage in your on-line FLOG (under MyUSMS).
